The Finance Manager - Plant Operations Fuji / Site Controller is the lead finance role for the Fuji site in Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Supply Chain (JSC).

Besides being responsible for all financial matters and ensuring financial compliance, this individual will be a member of the Fuji Plant Leadership Team, providing financial guidance and counsel to that team, to deliver on its long term (competitiveness) and short term (target achievement) commitments. In addition to the responsibilities for the Plant, this individual will also support the Japan End-to-End Janssen Supply Chain organization.

The Site Controller manages a small team of finance professionals and is responsible for all people management activities, in an open and inclusive environment.

This position reports to the APAC JSC Finance Director and has a close working relationship with the local Site organization, but also with local and international finance colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Play a strong role in the development, execution and follow-up actions related the Business Plan (Budget) and financial forecasts (Updates), as well as the long-range financial plan and other forecast & analysis activities. This includes assessing risks & opportunities and making recommendations to mitigate risks and improve performance in a compliant manner.
  • Manage financial closing processes and reporting to global & regional Finance and the business stakeholders. This role will also be specifically responsible for the correct application of cost accounting concepts across the plant. Note: financial shared services centers and COEs located in central global locations are leveraged for processing of transactional work and tax/statutory activities.
  • Provide financial guidance and counsel to the Fuji Plant Leadership Team, to deliver on its long term (competitiveness) and short term (target achievement) commitments. This includes the selection and prioritization of initiatives, and the monitoring and mitigation of associated risks during execution.
  • Maintain a close relationship with and support the Japan End-to-End Supply Chain organization in terms of budget management, as well as providing financial support and insights. Key areas in this space are inventory levels, obsolete inventory costs, new products introduction etc.
  • Selection and prioritization of initiatives, including the monitoring and mitigation of associated risks during execution. This includes development of business cases for investments and constructively challenging business partners, to improve short- and longer-term outcomes and ensure optimal use of resources.
  • Participate in Cost Improvement Projects, to validate and monitor financial implications and safeguard the long-term competitiveness of the Site.
  • Maintain relationships with business stakeholders, as well as with Finance colleagues in the local and global organization, including Global Services, Tax and Compliance teams. Build bridges between Finance and the functions we support, in terms of working relationship and continuous two-way education.
  • Be an active member of the global JSC Finance organization, a representative for the APAC Finance team and an active participant in JSC Finance initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement, finding innovative ways to improve processes, use of our IT tools and support to our stakeholders.

Qualifications

Work location:

Fuji Plant – Close to Mishima, Shizuoka prefecture, Japan.

Open to semi-remote arrangement, based in Kanto area, with regular visits to the Fuji Plant.

Required

Profile (education level, experience, competences):
  • Strong finance leadership skills
  • Self-driven/independent individual, able to work under remote management
  • Broad finance experience in the areas of accounting, reporting and financial planning & analysis (around 10-15 years)
  • Strong team player, with a broad interest and drive to participate in various non-financial discussions, projects and actions.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Japan/US) and SOX related requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate well with various stakeholders
  • English: Business level (Japanese language skill is a plus)
PREFERRED
  • Finance degree/certification, preferably with CPA, CMA, and/or MBA
  • (Manufacturing) cost accounting knowledge
  • People management experience
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage
